UEA Convention Held on October 1,2

The Utah Education Association (UEA) Convention and Educatin Exposition will be held October 1 and 2 at the South Towne Exposition Center in Sandy. Registration is open from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm on Thursday and from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm on Friday. The theme of the convention is UEA: Celebrating Our Past, Creating Our Future.

The keynote speaker scheduled for Friday author Harry K. Wong. One of the most sought after speakers in education today, Wong has been called Mr. Practicality for his common sense, research-based, no cost approach to managing a classroom for high-level student success. During his address, he will explain how to achieve maximum success in the classroom and show how effective teachers have a classroom that is structured, organized, and consistent in how it is run.

Wong is a former secondary science teacher. He has received several awards in education, and is the author of the bestseller The First Days of School.

Workshop topics include classroom management, culturally responsive teaching, meeting the needs of gifted students, and utilizing free technology resources.
